What Is The Cause Of Cervicalgia

The most obvious cause of neck pain is a sports injury or a car accident. Whiplash or neck strain can cause microscopic tears in the neck muscles, causing tension and swelling. Stress can lead to exhausted and overworked muscles and is another common cause of cervicalgia. Neck pain is a common complaint.

The neck muscles can be tense due to poor posture, whether you lean over the computer or slouch on the workbench. Osteoarthritis is also a common cause of neck pain. Cervical radiculopathy is a condition caused by the pinching or compression of the root of a spinal nerve in the neck. It can cause pain and weakness, especially in the head, neck, shoulders, and arms.

Neck pain is a nuisance in any of the structures of the neck. These include muscles, nerves, bones (vertebrae), joints, and discs between bones. cervicalgia is a general term used to describe pain in the neck. Neck pain is not a condition, but a symptom that can result from many different causes.

Treatment of neck pain depends largely on having an accurate diagnosis. Examples of common conditions that cause neck pain are neck distension, degenerative disc disease, neck injury such as whiplash, a herniated disc, or a pinched nerve. One of the most common causes of cervicalgia is poor posture or sitting long and hunched over a desk, laptop or smartphone. Unnatural curvature of the spine in these positions can cause tension in the neck muscles.

Similar tension can even occur when reading, sleeping, or clenching your teeth. Cervicalgia causes localized pain, so it rarely radiates outward. You may experience something as light as a “stiff neck” or as severe as the inability to turn your head due to severe pain or tight muscles. You may refer to your cervicalgia as “a crunch in the neck.
